What is new
The M/V Ocean Molica had turned off its AIS tracking beacon before the strike, with its last known position recorded Oct. 5. Reuters could not verify whether the crew remained unharmed or contact the ship's owner. The IMO reports at least 93 ships hit and 24 deaths since the conflict began. A separate tanker was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has countered the blockade by requiring ships to pay a percentage of cargo value to transit the Strait of Hormuz.
